One Place, Three Ways (Part II)

Up, close and personal.

I love it.

I'd say little things can be the most impressive and influential at times. So here's a little flower-power before you dash into the Halloween night!

One doesn't need macro lens and tripod and all to shoot some little plants and blossoms that sneak under your skin. At least not when one is me.

One Place, Three Ways (Part I)

Oh gosh, I have no inspiration-ideas-whatnot! Every photo I take is sooooo boring. Yup, I totally go there ever so often. And that's fine. However, I have been training myself to take my camera out shoot anyway, because I will probably totally get some nice shots and if not then at least I have practiced. Inspiration is overrated (I don't really believe in that, maybe just a little). However, action might inspire and spark an idea.

About a week ago I visited this awesome greenhouse with my friends. And I took a bunch of photos and because I think greenhouses with free public access are awesome I want to share some of them starting with the general overview of the greenhouse.

Okay, I totally come off as someone who follows elderly men in gardens... See, a photo can tell more than a thousand words. But a photo can also lie, because it is not my fault when people wander into the frame. Or read a newspaper in a cool space.

And to give you a hint what is coming this week - yes, I will get up, close and personal with the wildlife!

I mean - really close!

Stay tuned for more!

Week 43: Feels Like Home

Addict. Yes, I am.

I am addicted to sofas and TV series. At least when I am really super tired after a long week and a day trip. And while I watched more than one and less than five (read: four) episodes of Parks and Recs today I also snapped some home-photos. Because nothing feels like home like home. Duh.

There you had it. Shot with iPhone 4S and edited with VSCO Cam (because I love this app and I wrote about it here). Feels like home. A friend of mine said she doesn't understand Instagram.  I guess this update is like a collection of potential Instagram shots. I'd say it's all about World domination and shoe-selfies.  And seriously - there is something special to sharing a photo of your kitchen sink. What's there to understand?! (all said with a hint of self-irony, love and general admiration)

Happy Sunday! Round here we got an extra hour of Sunday, so it's been extra happy.

Friends & Foods

It's cloudy and rainy and gloomy in Madrid and I love it! Because I have this pot of hot tea and I am crawled up on my sofa in a hoodie listening to Tired Pony. I have had this song on repeat for like half a day... Now where was I, right, friends & foods.

As I mentioned last week I had friends over. You already met Dori here and since she runs a wee bakery I just had to give food photography a go.

No wait, what's that - I should probably not get into food photography 'cos I wanna edit it all like a rock star, the table is the stage (harsh lights and sharp contrasts). Then again - yes, we had an awesome rockin' cake with Gary Lightbody and Chris Martin as cake toppers! So maybe the table is a stage after all. We love cake, we love music and we are nerds, so that's why. Plus yes - Dori made it all happen! She came with the guys from Northern Ireland and assembled the stage cake here.

Action, lights, go!

So, awesome is the way we roll round here.

And look, Maria was here, too!

She came baring luxury goods - yes, caviar!

This concludes my attempts at food photography for now. It's more of an action photography. And a bit of rock'n'roll photography. Either way I am hungry now.

xoxo

Ps. Isn't it cool when your friends just go with the flow and don't mind spontaneous mini-shoots in elevators for example. I think it's totally cool.

Week 42: Design

I thought that today is as good as any other day to introduce you one of my favorite places round here - Matadero Madrid. It's a contemporary art center located in an old slaughterhouse. It is plain awesome, I tell you! And not only 'cos it's in this awesome old area with cool buildings, but there is always something going on and you can find everything from cinema to design (week 42: design - check!). Not to mention that one of my favorite city music festivals takes place there (you can find some of my photos here and here).

I don't go there often enough (I should totally live/work closer), but I did this weekend and here is a glimpse into some the current exhibitions.

And there was also another cool exhibition at the Design Center called Con Dos Colores, but I was too busy there and didn't bag any photos to share.

From Casa del Lector - a place dedicated to reading!

I really feel like I need to cover my living room floor in plasticine now (not the smartest idea!). Curious fact - that space used to be a walk-in cooler of the slaughterhouse. Don't want that in my living room.

Places like Matadeo Madrid fille me with excitement and inspiration, hopefully some of it transferred also over to you, my dear readers! And hey, if you happen to be in Madrid, make sure to stop by - on top of everything the exhibitions are for free!
