Week 28: Fashion

Fashion is what we make of it. It's all around us. Clothes, accessories, lifestyle... in fashion. Out of fashion. This time my approach was - I have to walk from point A to point B and I have to bag some fashion for my blog while running daily errands. From international brands to bohemian to dreamy to vintage. It was all there. On the way. And here you go...

I love fashion. Fashion reflects life... culture, values, feelings.

Week 25: White

There, it's been decided. I am not the time master. Time is a flow of moments and those moments just pass by like nothing... whoosh. Especially in summer. Summer moments pass by faster. It's almost midnight, again.

In my defense (geee, law school, thanks) - I have been taking tons of photos lately. The whole idea of this 52 weeks project was to push me shooting on a regular basis. I hope to share some shots from a music festival I attended last weekend. However, before that I still have some whites to post.

I wonder if those artists who shoot abstracts are actually like me and go: oh, I really don't feel like leaving the house, let's see what we can find here. Yeah, probably not. Didn't think so. Nevertheless I have some white walls and pipes.

I also have a fake marble (I believe it's fake, it must be) sink on my terrace.

Okay, so while I am not the time master I must be a liar 'cos I say I love colors. Colorful things. But all I seem to have is a ton of white.

Even my clothes are white! Okay, this is starting to weird me out here. Photographic therapy?!

Then again, what else is to be expected from someone who keeps white unicorns as pets. Trapped in a glass bowl.

Lessons learned - impossibly hard to shoot white things and make then look crispy white on photos. Must work on that. Also, what's with the unicorns?! Bottom line - summer is here and I am totally having a bit of this school's out for summer thing going on here. It's a good feeling tho. Summer, finally! Look out for festival photos this week! And something for this week's project (shall find out tomorrow what it is).

Into the Night, on the Beach

I love pretty photos of pretty places. A sunny day on a beach. Just like this. I spent this lovely relaxed weekend in Alicante trying out my new camera. So, yes, holiday shots are just really lovely to take and have.

However, I also love trying new things, playing around and sharing moments that resonate more with the hidden than with the plain obvious. Creating images. Nope, didn't pull those straight from the camera, but I had fun recreating memories (and memories are always somewhat illusional or delusional, if you wish). I like taking photos and pushing and pulling the buttons in Lightroom and through that take the same photo over and over again with different settings, approach, feeling. With some photos I feel I need to take them, but I have no idea what will become of them until later on.

It's trash or then this. Nighttime on the beach.

Stepping off the sand... wavy terraces and skater boys.

Can't help it, black and white gives me this film-like feel. And I love it. In grain, in blur, in darkness. And in bright lights.

It's almost weekend, woo! Hope you have had a good week and will have an even better weekend!

Week 21: On the Ground

The photo that would totally represent being on the ground: me on the beach in Alicante, Spain. No such photo (that I am aware of). However, tons of photos I took in Alicante before and after and at the beach. Less words, more images!

Chapter I - In Color

Cats sell. I have learned this much (or little) in my life, so here we go. A cat and it's selection of fancy magazine pages. The Queen Cat. The Cat Person.

If there were on the ground classics than trash would be it. Sadly. Pepsi goes into the wild.

Pepsi first, party later!

And then we can all walk on the waves.

On the beach. The Blue.

The Rosé.

Chapter II - In Black, In White

Pre-beaching.

Beaching.

Post-beaching. Climbing dimensions on the ground.

Looking for directions.

Running in the night/stuck with shadows.

Passing by.

Finding roots.

Observing fairy tales, finding the hidden and drawing lines between the real and the illusion on the ground.

Let's Get Manual

Manual focusing - yes, it's this thing when you turn out autofocus on your (D)SLR and try to get the image sharp trusting your eye. It had always daunted me, because well, my eyesight is not the best ever and all in all, it seems fussy. But as they say - desperate times call for desperate measures. I guess they also say that practice makes perfect, but well, I hadn't had much. So let's discard that.

I like, no wait, I love music! And ever so often I get the urge to try to take some photos at concerts. However, concert venues are not kind to anyone with a camera - unpredictable light (and too little of it), moving artists, crazy crowd trying to jump on you. To put it short, tons of movement and no light. Plus you are usually stuck in one spot.

Some weeks ago Beach House played in Madrid. They had picked Marques Toliver as their support artist. I had never heard of him before and I was in for a treat. Visually and musically. He filled the room with his positive energy.
I just had to capture some of his performance on my camera. However, my camera disagreed. It was not up to focusing. So, I was like - whatever dude, I can do it on my own. And I went all manual. In a dark room trying to keep my camera as stable as possible and lending it my poor sight... I think I did well, very well. Kind of proves the point that you just have to try new things. And you must be the boss of the camera, not the other way around.
Some passion and concentration
Some captive story-telling
Some priceless expressions
Here's to music and bossing your camera around!

Week 8: Life in Black and White

Last weekend and first days of this week I spent road tripping around Southern Spain with a friend. Places visited: Sevilla, Arcos de la Frontera, Ronda, Gaucin, Bornos, Tarifa, Cadiz, Jerez. So while there was a lot to be shot in color I also tried to capture some moments in black and white. All taken with Olympus E-420, 25mm. Hope to upload rest of the photos on Flickr sometime soon.
